The contribution of negotiation of meaning to language accuracy in an EFL setting through a focused task

Despite the extensive research on negotiation of meaning (NoM) using unfocused tasks, to our knowledge no study portrays what extent NoM contributes learners’ language accuracy, grammar, and vocabulary, in particular, a focused task. Therefore, this set out obtain in-depth information about contribution accuracy when learners were assigned engage task discussion. The participants, treated as three dyads based their English proficiency, taken purposely from one class sixth-semester students Department Education Faculty at Universitas Lampung, Indonesia. They paired abilities (high-high; high-low; low-low) intimates among 24 class. All utterances produced during fifteen-minute discussion recorded analyzed following theory accuracy. It was discovered that engaged discussion, it students’ optimize topic be discussed should output (focused task) since interlocutor can offer assistance part process. suggestions for future are also discussed.
